Visual skills, design, images and decoration -

A practical workshop in design for those involved with art surfaces

Exploring the following :

1. •Techniques for “seeing”
   

2. •Recognizing the elements of design
   

3. •Using the principles of design
   

4. •From 2D to three dimensions
   

5. •Surface decoration in Craft and Art.
   

6. •Inspiration, ideas and sources
   

7. •Developing personal style and standards.
   

8. •The topic of the critique and evaluation ______________________________________________________
   

There will be practical exercises in the above

Slides, photographs, drawings and digital images : Encouragement to use and collect these will be given.

Materials needed:
drawing paper or card or sketch pad. craft knife.
ruler and masking tape
pencil and scissors
some method colouring - felt marker,crayon, acrylic inks or paint.
large medium and fine brushes
A more detailed list of extra/optional items will be given later

* NO previous knowledge is necessary - only a willingness to experiment and try a variety visual techniques..

    * Starting with natural forms and shapes, ideas and images will be created.

    * Adapting, simplifiyng and transforming the images to personal taste

    * An introduction to ways using all the above in simple effective ways on a variety of surfaces

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS.

Preferred slide projector--KODAK CAROUSEL- please let me know that this is possible.

I could also use a digital projector if one is available.
