PREPARATION FOR THIS WORKSHOP
Individual preparation for this workshop:
50 or more bisqued clay boxes or straight side tubs each person for melting mixtures measurements 4x3inches( 100x75 mm) and 1 inch (25 mm) deep.....can be roughly made for stacking on top of each other.
a plastic spoon for measuring -- an old paint brush (1 cm) for mixing.
a few small cups or plastic beakers for mixing--a notebook and pencil
a ceramic pencil or fine brush for labelling tests
a few things needed for the design component of this class

the following materials are fairly essential for active results :
small amounts (approx one kilo-depending on number of people)
bone ash(natural) magnesium carbonate(light) wood ash(unsieved) rutile feldspar nephelyne syenite zinc oxide titaniumoxide talc any frit wollastonite china clay
lots of ceramic colour stains of any kind (students will also bring these if possible)
lithium carbonate cryolite spodumene strontium carbonate soda ash petalite volcanic ash(pumice) cement amblygonite molochite calcined alumina fluorspar tin oxide
copper oxide cobalt oxide ironoxide
also required
a medium or small kiln that will fire quickly or automatically overnight to a lower or higher temperature (each day).
plenty of table space.a good water supply.and waste disposal
dark room for several short slide sessions where design sessions consider the use of texture colour and glaze
preferred slide projector--kodak carousel please let me know that this is possible
